In Love with Another Man (Poem)

When I came to visit, you did not say,
“I’m in love with another man.”

You welcomed me in and asked me to stay.
I realize now, I should have ran.

But I let emotion lead me astray,
hoping that I could hold your hand.

The moments were magic- both night and day.
Sadly, our love was just pretend.

When our time was up, and I went away,
I knew that I was just a friend.

A little bird told me the other day-
You’re engaged to the other man.

I wish you much joy on your wedding day.
And may you love him ‘til the end.
