Paul and Silas hit the road to visit the churches Paul had planted to share with them the decision of the Jerusalem council. While in Philippi, they were harassed by a girl with an evil spirit. After enduring the harassment for a few days, Paul finally cast the demon out. Unfortunately, a couple of thugs owned this girl and made money off her fortune telling ability. They became angry and Paul and Silas ended up in jail with severe wounds.
That night, Paul and Silas sang hymns and prayed. God answered with a chain-shattering earthquake which allowed Paul to witness to the jailer.
