At a vital moment in history, Peter stood up in the Jerusalem council and reminded the Jewish leaders that neither their ancestors not they had been able to perfectly keep the law of Moses. Thus, it did not make sense to require Gentile converts to keep the law and be circumcised in order to be saved. Instead, Peter showed how salvation came through the grace of God.
